Paul Haley
MBA, BA (hons), FCInstM, FInstLM, FInstSMM, MCIM, MIBC

AREAS OF EXPERTISE
Paul is a highly motivated and adaptable business change manager. He has worked at the Managing Director level within domestic (and previously international) commercial markets, where tolerance to cross-cultural divergence is crucial to success. Paul has successfully combined creative problem-solving skills from an early design career with understanding of business processes. This is exemplified by his track record in formulation/fulfillment of business strategies, business risk analysis, and profitability initiatives in the IT and service supply sectors. His extensive knowledge in cross-cultural employment comes from a decade working as an expatriate in Africa, the Middle East, and Far East.

PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Paul is currently working as a business mentor for South East England Development Agency, a part of the DTI that is strongly linked with the Innovation Hubs and the University Of Southampton Institute for Entrepreneurship. He is also working within the SME and Local Authority markets to deliver a series of change motivation workshops. He is promoting the embracing of change as a work style within larger organizations as being more effective than increasing tolerance levels to change.

For the first manufacturing company in Dubai, Paul led the setup from original concept to £5m turnover within 3 years. This established the client as a leading dealer of high-quality handmade carpets for the lucrative palace refurbishment market with over 150 employees and full budgetary control. He also developed a strategy and business plan for restructuring a group of Ethiopian manufacturers, funded by the World Bank to break into world markets with local products.

Paul established a new company division for interior design contracts for high-profile organisations in the City of London. He also advised and supported an innovation company in their successful design and launch of an innovative low-cost reusable flood barrier system. And he successfully restructured and refocused an IT company to enter new markets with impressive increases in ROI and profitability.

EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND
Paul achieved his MBA with merits from one of the UK’s top-ten business schools (the University of Southampton, School of Management). He also holds a diploma from Newcastle College in Coaching and Mentoring. He recently presented workshops on business, cross-cultural conflicts, and organisational issues on the MBA course at the University of Southampton.
